Wild flowers

Colin Miles

May 12th 2015: A dry but rather windy day and, as we disembarked from our cars there was a discussion as to what we should do.  And following on from our previous attempts at identifying Wildflowers, it was decided that we really needed more help.  So we naturally turned to Michael and what followed was  a thoroughly fascinating and very informative walk. From Dandelions to Wood and Water Avens, Daises, Lillies, Campions and Violets, Michael had lots of stories to tell and, as can be seen by the following photos, lots to show us. And not forgetting the insects. This year there has been an ‘explosion’ of Shiny Dock Beetles. Click on the photos to see a larger picture and read the caption.

A special thanks this week to Michael for all the information he imparted so well, and to John who has excelled himself with these photos. If any volunteer or member wants to join us please send an email to Jane Down– you DON’T have to be an expert in anything, just interested. If you find an injured bird, hedgehog or other wild animal and want help and advice then phone the Gower Bird hospital on 01792 371630.
