Long-horned bee

Eucera longicornis

Numbers of this solitary bee have massively declined in the UK, due to loss of its habitat, which contains legumes that it forages on.

Females nest in different habitats, such as cliffs with soft rock, woodland and meadows.

The males of this species are easily identified, as unlike the females, they have very long antennae.

Look out for them in the meadows of Waun Las National Nature Reserve.
