Live Well Growers – Dave’s an angel at times

Amy Henderson

Tucked away in a little corner of the National Botanic Garden of Wales, we are a group of people recovering from brain injury and Neurological illness.

Supported by Hywel Dda University Health Board Brain Injury and Complex Neurological Therapy Service, we get together every week to participate in a therapeutic gardening group, share support, laughs and ideas while growing vegetables and developing our community garden.

Hi my name is Dave although there are other names which are not appropriate to type!

I’m part of the live well growers group.  I love attending the group. Our little space is like a sanctuary for me.  It allows me to feel normal for the couple of hours I am there.

We have fantastic scenery such as hills in the background, fantastic colour of the flowers, we also have amazing wildlife from birds of prey flying overhead to small insects around our feet and being out in the fresh air is one of my favourite things to do.

We are like a small team.

If one of us is not having a good day or if one of us is experiencing a certain feeling, there will be one of us that has been through it or experienced the same thing, so we help each other out and try and pick each other up.

One of the main things is we have a laugh and chuckle, all the while planting vegetables so we can have a healthy diet.
