Live Well Growers – Iwan Says Goodbye

Amy Henderson

After being a part of the Live Well Growers for over a year and a half unfortunately my time at the group has come to an end.

Hi there, my name is Iwan and when I joined the Live Well Growers I could not possibly imagine the journey I would embark on.

I remember feeling anxious before going to the gardens for the 1st time, but when I arrived everyone was so welcoming (especially Carl who was the 1st person I saw when I arrived) and there was such a friendly atmosphere there which made it very easy for me to settle in the group.

In the group I have met amazing people who mean the world to me, made memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life (opening a vole hotel springs to mind) and found a new hobby in gardening (who knew gardening was so enjoyable). I can’t put to words on how much brain injury therapy groups mean to me. When I attended my first therapy group I was a shell of a person I am now.

When I first started with the Live Well Growers I was in a wheelchair and had absolutely no idea what I was going to do in the future. Fast forward a year and a half I am now walking again and studying football coaching in the community at university. At the beginning the Live Well Growers was run in partnership with the Swansea City Community Trust and after joining, I was offered the chance to volunteer for the Community Trust and be able to pursue my lifelong dream of being a football coach which then lead me back into education.

I’ve been so blessed to have been a part of this group and I can’t speak highly enough of the people that run the group.

To say it has been life changing is a huge understatement. I owe my life to therapy groups because I would not be the person I am today without it and I certainly wouldn’t have been able to pursue my dream career, for that I am eternally grateful.

I wish everyone at the Live Well Growers the best for the future and I am so thankful for everything you’ve done for me.

THANK YOU!!!”
