Hello. We are the Live Well Growers.

Amy Henderson

Tucked away in a little corner of the National Botanic Garden of Wales, we are a group of people recovering from brain injury and neurological illness.

Supported by Hywel Dda University Health Board Brain Injury and Complex Neurological Therapy Service, we get together every week to participate in a therapeutic gardening group, share support, laughs and ideas while growing vegetables and developing our community garden.

Hi.  My name is Iwan and I am a member of the Live Well Growers.

And today I had my first ever walk around the lower part of our garden as this time 10 months ago I was in a wheelchair.  It felt really good.

And there was another first today… we used the tools that were donated by Arborum Ltd,  You can see them and some of us in the photo.  It was great to finally have our own tools and it was good to get them dirty as soon as we had them!

Today, alongside Carl, we covered the raised bed with compost (using the new wheelbarrow which is a lovely lightweight one) ready to grow fruit for this summer’s harvest.  We are planning strawberries, some raspberry canes and rhubarb.

A happy day all round finished off with tea and a few chocolates around the fire.
