Midsummer Concert
The Legends of Dance take centre stage for the Midsummer Concert at the National Botanic Garden of Wales.
The 45-piece orchestra Symphonica Tywi will play from 7.30pm until dusk on Saturday June 24th and the evening promises to be a feast of classical dance music in the Great Glasshouse.
Conductor Mike Cottam says: “There’s so much to choose from but we will be putting our best foot forward with the likes of Gilbert & Sullivan, South Pacific, Sleeping Beauty, Danzón No. 2 by Arturo Márquez and much more.”
Garden spokesman, David Hardy said:
“It’s always a wonderful occasion. People bring along picnic hampers and really make a night of it. In truth, there’s not much to beat sitting in among the marvellous Mediterranean plantings as the sun goes down, listening to this fantastic orchestra play their beautiful music.”
Bring your picnic and celebrate this Year of Legends and a midsummer’s night to remember.

Voices of the Valley
An American High School choir on a whistle-stop tour of South Wales will be singing at the National Botanic Garden on Saturday June 24.
The 33 visiting voices belong to the singers with the Pennsylvania choir, ‘Voices of the Valley’, who all attend Valley View High School in Lackawanna Valley in the industrial north east of the American state.
They have a busy schedule of concerts and sight-seeing and will be singing in the Garden’s Great Glasshouse at 11am before heading off to Tenby and then Laugharne.
While they are in Wales, Voices of the Valley are also performing at Ystradgynlais, Pontarddulais, Morriston, Llandeilo, Dylan Thomas’s Boathouse and Port Talbot.
Kate Rusby in Concert
Folk-singing superstar Kate Rusby is in concert at the National Botanic Garden of Wales on Saturday July 15th.
One of the finest interpreters of traditional folk and one of the UK’s best songwriters, Kate will be on stage at the Garden from 7.30pm.
She has been nominated for the Mercury Prize, and has received awards for Folk Singer of the Year, Best Live Act, Best Album and Best Original Song at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.
On the brink of a quarter century of music making, Kate Rusby released her 14th studio album Life in a Paper Boat late last year to rave reviews.
Tickets are £25 and available directly from the Garden, via EventBrite, andDerricks Music in Oxford Street, Swansea.
Wales Wildflower Day
Come and experience the joys of orchid-rich Welsh meadows on Saturday June 25th.
There’ll be wildflower and butterfly guided walks, beekeepers in the Bee Garden, and wildflower-inspired papermakers, artists and craft makers.
Scientists will show you how to build a bumblebee DNA bracelet!

Parkland Restoration Tour
To find out more about Sir William Paxton’s fabulous historic parkland and get an update on the progress of our Regency Restoration Project, join Louise Austin, the Garden’s Heritage Officer, at 2pm this Friday ,at the Western Entrance of the Great Glasshouse for a two hour guided tour.
Terrain is uneven and can often be muddy; please wear sturdy footwear.
